Based in Glasgow, the Nanhai Piano Trio was formed in 2014 by three friends with a shared love of chamber music, who have performed throughout Europe at leading venues and chamber music festivals. Over the past few seasons, the trio has presented varied programmes across Scotland, exploring the core piano trio repertoire and unearthing little-known gems.
Gongbo, Robert and Gordon have broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Scotland, and recorded on the Nimbus and Delphian labels. They are recipients of 1st prizes and audience prizes at international chamber music competitions including the St Martin in the Fields Competition in London, and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Competition in France. They are also committed to the music of their native countries, performing piano trio works by Scottish and Chinese composers such as Kenneth Leighton, David Horne, John Hearne and Tan Dun. Their chamber music teachers included members of the Alban Berg, Mosaiques and Takacs Quartets, in Paris, London and Italy. |
